Welcome to Mayor Chew's website.
I have been privileged to serve as your Mayor and Councilmember. With your vote, I will: continue strong leadership to preserve and enhance our unique quality of life in Moraga; protect our semi-rural environment through thoughtful and sensible growth; and ensure enforcement of the General Plan policies and Moraga Open Space Ordinance.
During my tenure, I have worked to see the following accomplished: a prudent fiscal budget; sound infrastructure investments while maintaining excellent service; sustained excellence in police protection; increased recreational opportunities in our parks and playing fields; improved function and assets of Moraga library and the Hacienda; completion of Moraga Center Specific Plan and certification of Moraga Housing Element; and incorporation of environmentally sustainable policies in Moraga.
My other accomplishments include: leading an efficient and cohesive Town Council; improving government communication and transparency; enhancing senior services; fostering excellent relationships with Saint Mary’s College and promoting its integration in our community; developing cooperative efforts with the Moraga School District and various volunteer service groups.
My educational background: Civil and Environmental Engineering Degree (University of Wisconsin); Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program graduate (Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University); licensed civil engineer (P.E., California).
